Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we do with the personal information you give us through this website. We are a small family business and we keep this simple: we use your details to reply to your enquiry and to carry out work you ask us to do. We do not sell your information, we do not send marketing, and we do not track you around the internet.
Who we are
Technical Brickwork Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this policy. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are responsible for looking after it.

What we collect, and why
Almost everything we hold comes from you filling in the quote form. There is no account to create and nothing you have to tell us beyond what we need to price the job and get back to you.
| What | Why we need it | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name | So we know who we are speaking to | Legitimate interests |
| Phone number | To call or WhatsApp you back about the job | Legitimate interests |
| Email address (optional) | To send a written quote if you prefer email | Legitimate interests |
| Postcode | To check the job is in an area we cover and to price travel | Legitimate interests |
| Preferred contact method | So we contact you the way you asked us to | Legitimate interests |
| Type of work and your description of it | To understand the job and prepare a quote | Legitimate interests |
| Site address and job details | Given later, if you go ahead. Needed to carry out the work | Performance of a contract |
| Invoice and payment records | Required for VAT and company accounts | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, the interest is straightforward: you have asked us for a price, and we cannot give you one without being able to contact you and understand the job. You can object to this at any time. See your rights below.
Please don't send us sensitive information
The quote form is for describing brickwork. Please do not include health information, financial details, card numbers, or anything about other people who have not agreed to it. We do not ask for any of that and we do not need it to quote for a job.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of requests made to the site: the page requested, the time, the response, browser type and IP address. This is ordinary web server activity, used to keep the site online and secure and to diagnose faults. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to identify individual visitors.
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Our Cookie Policy sets out the detail, including the third-party services the site loads.
Who else handles your information
We keep the number of companies involved as small as we reasonably can. Each of these is a service provider acting on our instructions, not a company we sell data to.
| Provider | What they do for us | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the website and receives quote form submissions, which are forwarded to our inbox | USA |
| Supabase | Database that stores quote enquiries so we can manage them | EU / USA |
| Zoho | Provides our email. Enquiries arrive and are kept in our inbox | EU |
| Serves the website fonts, and provides Search Console, which reports on how the site appears in search results | USA |
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad, it is protected by the safeguards permitted under UK data protection law. In practice that means the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as set out in each provider's terms.
We may also share information where we genuinely have to: with our accountant for company accounts and VAT, with our insurers if a claim arises, or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
| Records | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that do not lead to work | 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted |
| Customer and job records | 6 years after the end of the financial year the work falls in |
| Invoices and VAT records | 6 years, as HMRC requires |
| Server logs | Held for a short period by our hosting provider under their retention schedule |
We keep customer and job records for six years because brickwork can be the subject of a claim years after it is finished, and because tax law requires it. If you ask us to delete an enquiry before the 24 months are up, we will, unless we need it for one of the reasons above.
Keeping it secure
The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. The enquiry database sits behind access controls, and the admin page used to view enquiries is protected by a login. Access is limited to the people in the business who need it, which is a very short list.
No website can promise perfect security, but if a breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you and report it to the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct it if something is wrong or out of date.
- Delete it, where we have no continuing reason to keep it.
- Restrict how we use it while a question about it is being sorted out.
- Object to our using it where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Receive it in a portable format, where that right applies.
Email info@technicalbrickwork.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we hand over personal information.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Marketing
We do not send marketing emails or texts, and we do not add enquiries to a mailing list. If you hear from us, it is because you contacted us about a job.
Children
This website is aimed at people arranging building work, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, for example by starting to use a new service provider, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
